Empowering voices, defending rights. standing against digital authoritarianism
“In the digital age, privacy is not a luxury, but the foundation of all human rights. We at Digital Rights for Gulf is committed to building a secure digital future for the Gulf by defending the rights of dissidents, journalists, and activists to freedom of expression and assembly, shielded from the threat of spyware.”
What We Do
We empower human rights defenders across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to resist digital surveillance, safeguard their privacy, and uphold their fundamental freedoms.
As governments in the region increasingly deploy advanced surveillance technologies to stifle dissent and control information, we respond with bold, evidence-based action. Through cutting-edge research and strategic advocacy, we expose digital repression, challenge authoritarian narratives, and bring transparency to state surveillance practices.
This is the collaborative effort between ADHRB and Redline to equip activists, journalists, and civil society organizations with critical insights and tools to better understand and navigate digital threats. We connect regional realities to global conversations, amplifying the voices of those targeted and pushing for systemic change.
Together, we are working toward a future where digital spaces are safe, rights-respecting, and open to all — a future where technology empowers rather than oppresses.
Our Values
We ground our work in these core values:
Care – We recognize the emotional and physical toll of digital threats. Our work is grounded in care, security, and well-being for both individuals and communities.
Solidarity – We stand with human rights defenders, activists, and communities facing systemic oppression and digital threats. Their safety, voices, and leadership are central to our mission.
Integrity – Our research and advocacy are evidence-based, principled, and transparent. We confront abuses with clarity and conviction.
Autonomy – We prioritize tools, training, and strategies that enhance self-reliance and digital independence for frontline defenders.
